About
The ancient Parish of Gresley is situated in the Southern tip of Derby Diocese.
Our churchmanship is evangelical but our regular congregation come from a wide range of theological backgrounds and experiences, from higher tradition through to more charismatic. There is an active children’s and youth work programme, but the age range of the congregation spans newborn to 80+ years. The church is also intensely involved in the community, from officiating weddings, funerals and baptisms, through to schools work, pastoral visiting, and corporate witness.
Previously a coal and clay industrial region, the parish is undergoing massive regeneration, being the headquarters of the new National Forest. Served by a C of E Primary School (5-11yrs), 2 state nursery schools, infants’ school, and 2 junior schools, and also housing two residential homes, one nursing home and three sheltered housing schemes, the parish has a diverse population, totalling approximately 11,000.
