St. George and St. Mary’s Walking Group

We are a relaxed and friendly group, formed about 18 months ago and enjoying the exploration, exercise and scenery of walks both local and further afield.

Our walks have been varied, including  Branston Water Park to the lovely scenery from Battlestead Hill, several which started from Fradley Junction along the canal, some from Staunton Harold including a beautiful snowdrop walk in the early Spring.  We also visited the well-dressings at Etwall and gone as far afield as  Bradgate Park and Cannock Chase. Most walks have not exceeded 5 miles and some have had the choice to take a shorter route.

We normally meet on a Tuesday at 10.30a.m. in the car park by the church rooms and car-share from there. We finish with a drink and a meal although when the weather is fine, we take sandwiches.

We are always pleased to welcome new members, especially from the wider community – just bring suitable footwear and join us anytime.
