St George & St Mary’s Church …at the heart of YOUR community

What a fantastic two days!

Well, that went really well indeed.

The weather was excellent and attracted the crowds on both days.  The continuous programme started and finished on time without us needing to cut anything out.  All of the displays and activities were constantly busy – to the point of needing to start well ahead of the scheduled 1pm start time!

There are far too many folks to thank individually but to grossly generalise thanks to:

• Our stage hosts Martyn, David and David
• Mother’s Union for constant refreshment
• Organisers of the various activities
• “Exhibitors” showing-off their groups
• Competition entries from the schools (and especially the winners!)
• Everybody performing on stage – Drama, Dance and Music
• “The brave” camping out overnight to secure the marquee
• The army of people transporting everything to and from the event
• Everybody who took part in the service and balloon release on Sunday
• South Derbyshire District Council for putting on the host event
• The PCC of St George and St Mary’s Church for agreeing to sponsor the event and marquee
• Everybody else for taking part in any way what so ever!

A great success!

Before we even consider next year, all that remains is to collate the various event photographs and videos as we aim to have an online gallery on this site by the weekend.

Festival of Leisure – Programme

Festival of Leisure 2009 – Update

Details of the displays and entertainment are beginning to take shape – see links to the right for details of some of the participants.  Early next week we aim to publish a tentative programme for the two days to provide a taster of what you can expect to see in the “heart of your community” marquee.

Festival of Leisure 2009

On the weekend of Saturday/Sunday 27th & 28th June 2009, St George and St Mary’s Church, Church Gresley, will be at the South Derbyshire District Council Festival of Leisure to be held on Maurice Lea Memorial Park at Church Gresley.

The Church will be hosting a marquee at this event and provide a varied program of entertainment, chat, interviews along with displays of Church life at the heart of your community.
